Clinton Lake near Lawrence KS is comprised of approximately 7,000 acres lake that provides fishing opportunities for nearly 25 different species of fish, primarily white bass, crappie, channel catfish, walleye and large mouth bass. Many nearby parks offer camping facilities and boat ramps for putting into Clinton Lake.

Clinton Lake was constructed and is operated by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. The Dam was constructed on the Wakarusa River approximately one mile west of Lawrence, Kansas. The project primarily lies in western Douglas County and part of eastern Shawnee County. The lake was constructed to control flooding, municipal and industrial water supply, recreation, fish and wildlife benefits and maintain minimum stream flow on the Wakarusa and Kansas Rivers.
Clinton Lake offers about 85 miles of shoreline. There are ten boat ramps located on Clinton Lake. Ramps #1 - #3 are located in the Clinton State Park, and require a State Park vehicle permit. Ramp #4 is in Bloomington West, is free to the public. Ramps #5 - #7 are in Bloomington East and require a Federal Day Use pass (daily or annual). Boat ramps #8, #9 and #10 are located in the Coon Creek Area, Wakarusa River arm and Rock Creek arms and are free to the public.
